One size does not fit all: Using farm level data in a multidisciplinary Herd Health Program to support dairy farm management
Omer Klein, Michael van Straten and Shani Scheinin (“Hachaklait” Veterinary Services)
The Herd Health and Production Management system has been successfully implemented in Israeli dairy farms for over 30 years. This system relies on generating farm data, analyzing it using multidisciplinary tools, and presenting the analysis results in a way that supports management decisions. During this hand- on workshop, participants will use real farm data and experience how it is analyzed, and presented.
The workshop objectives:
- Learn how data is generated during routine farm operations.
- Understand how multidisciplinary data analysis can identify and quantify factors affecting productivity.
- Understand how multidisciplinary data analysis can help identify farm specific problems.
- Experience how data analysis can be used to support managerial decisions.
- Explore effective ways to present these results to farmers and managers.
